Black 'n' Reds Out In Force

The Black 'n' Reds turned out in force, for the first Petrofac meeting of the season, at Queens Park Stadium Inverness, on Sunday 25th April 2010. Ranging in age from 17 months to 50+ years, the athletes and supporters of Ross County AC, demonstrated the clubs continued commitment to being a family friendly club, dedicated to sport for all ages and abilities.

From the very first gun to the very last relay runner to cross the finish line, every competitor, especially those in a black and red vest, was greeted by a wall of cheering and shouting from the stands and around the track side as the Ross County crowd gave it up for a day of sporting excellence from clubs from across the Highlands.

After a winter of indoor training and only 2 outdoor sessions under ourr belt (one of which was in a blizzard), it was a great start to the season, with surprises across the age groups and several entries in the Power Of 10 rankings for Club athletes. Well done to Dave & Danny Ogilvie, Big Malky Cleghorn and Abigael MacGregor, for storming the rankings.

In the overall standings the club came away with the following places: U11Boys 3rd (Great work from the 4 new faces),  U11Girls 6th (More great work from 3 very new and young girls), U13Boys 2nd ,   U13Girls 2nd ,   U15Boys 4th ,   U15Girls 4th ,   U17Women 5th, (with only 1 lady),    Senior Women 3rd (2 ladies),    Senior Men 1st.

It shouldn't be forgotten that none of this would be possible without the hard work and enthusiasm of the track and field officials and organisers (all of whom performed fantastically on the day) and the title sponsors, Petrofac.
