sportscotland is committed to the recognition and reward of coaches and in 2010 we launched the sportscotland Coaching Awards to highlight this priority to our partners and get them involved in recognising and rewarding coaches from a wide range of backgrounds and levels. The sportscotland Coaching Awards will be taking place once again this year after a highly successful inaugural campaign in 2010. We also glad to announce there will be awards for the Highlands and Islands that will have the same categories as the national awards and create a clear pathway with the winners entered into the National Awards. These awards are targeted towards the coaching industry and as partners in SGBs and local authorities you are encouraged to nominate coaches in one of six categories. In recognising and rewarding coaches we are meeting the priorities laid out in our coaching framework, Coaching Scotland 2011-2015. Nominations open today, 30 August, and close 14 October.
Winners for the Regional Awards will receive £150 to use for coach education or buying coaching resources and a trophy that will be awarded in the club as with the National Awards.
Please forward this information on to your local clubs, schools, sports councils and coaches to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to nominate their coaches. Applications that goes direct to the National Awards will be forwarded on to the Highlands & Islands Awards and then the regional winners will be passed on to the National Awards.
