Heather Bruce At The National U16 Indoor Champs
Added on 05 March 2014
On 16th Feb 2014, our single athlete entry to the National Under 16 Indoor championships, took to the track in the Emirates Arena, Glasgow. HEATHER BRUCE, accompanied by mum and sister, met up with with Coach Tom for some warm-ups and starting block practice, prior to her 60m and 200m events. In her first ever indoor event and first start from the blocks, Heather ran a very creditable PB of 9.02s, in the fastest heat of the meeting. With a few hours to wait before the 200m, time was spent relaxing, eating and doing more practice and warm-ups. When the time came for the tight, banked curves of the Emirates track, Heather was once again on form for another PB on the day of 30.11s
As a Coach, I found the whole experience great fun and almost awesome, the set-up was slick, apart from the lack of practice starting blocks. The athletes were treated as professionals, escorted from the Call Room in heat order and walked to their waiting and start position, a far cry from the mayhem of the Black n Red camp on Petrofac days and results were reasonably quick to appear. Heather conducted herself with professionalism and pride, a credit to herself and the club. Hopefully we'll have a few more athletes taking part in future events, if you want to know more speak to Tom or better still Heather.
Well done Heather.
